Piss, Whine, & Moan

I remember being seven years old getting bullied and teased
Fatty, four-eyes, a bookworm, a geek
Made fun of me for everything you please
But now I’m the man and it looks like you’re the skeeze
But I bet you regret that now
And then in eighth grade Christy just rolled her eyes
I wrote some poems and I really tried
To be a romantic and to be a cool guy
But you just said no and I coulda died
But I bet you regret that now

So now the Sucks rockin out and these punks wanna piece
But I’ma say the same thing that ya’ll said to me
You ain’t worth the time and it just won’t be
Cause I’ma keep doin this and to you I say “peace”

There was this lil biddy who got lots a years
Always bitchin bout my smoking and the beers
“I’m goin’ to France, ain’t nothin’ for me here”
And left me in this small town alone and in tears
But I bet you regret that now
Then there was the time when Ed sent me a five spot
It was birthday and that’s all I got
How odd that every other year it seems you forgot
But you sure wanna be there now I’m blowin’ up and hot
Bitch you regret that now

So now the Sucks rockin out and these punks wanna piece
But I’ma say the same thing that ya’ll said to me
You ain’t worth the time and it just won’t be
Cause I’ma keep doin this and to you I say “peace”

See ya’ll missed out on the best parts of life
And now I’m grown got kids and a wife
All your words they cut like the blade of a knife
And all the hate caused me such strife
But I built atop this pile of shit
A great family and left ya’ll in your pit
So you can keep moanin and rollin round in it
And I’ma keep thrashin’ my head
Won’t stop till I’m dead
One more fuck you Ed
And that’s about all that needs to be said
Piss Off!

My Sweet Darkness

I watch a spider wrap its webs around my body
Tighter and tighter as my bones crack and all the air escapes
There is no running my sweet darkness fangs they pierce
I feel its breath so hot on my neck my hairs stand on end
I enjoy every minute of being devoured by you
It's sheer ecstasy and I wouldn't let you stop
Drain me like you would, just like any other
Till every drop is gone and only a shell's in my place
Only you! Can dig your claws so deep, palest flesh and blackest eyes
Only you! Can burn my body with piercing and feed the darkest lies
Only you! Can lick my wounds and taste my bleed
I'd bleed it all for you
And only you
I smile a crooked smile and smear all of my makeup
I let the rain fall and wash the color from my hair
Black like soot, water pours in, stinging eyes and staining skin
Let it in, all again, you again, yes you again
Drain me like you would, just like any other
Till every drop is gone and only a shell's in my place
Only you! Can dig your claws so deep, palest flesh and blackest eyes
Only you! Can burn my body with piercing and feed the darkest lies
Only you! Can lick my wounds and taste my bleed
I'd bleed it all for you
And only you
I love the way you cry with joy
And how you let me out on a short strong leash
I want so much of everything all you can give to me
Drain me like you would, just like any other
Till every drop is gone and only a shell's in my place
Only you! Can dig your claws so deep, palest flesh and blackest eyes
Only you! Can burn my body with piercing and feed the darkest lies
Only you! Can lick my wounds and taste my bleed
I'd bleed it all for you
And only you

Bruises

Just too young and don’t know any better

I confess it gets to me what they use to get her

Looking forward, we’re turning on my high beams

Nothing for and everything is wrong it seems

They are the reason she wants to end her life

She burns what they’ve told her and holds to her knife

It all pulls down, deep inside

Those tears come through I try to hide

The pain in her, flows into me

I hit these curves die quietly

Breathe in, breathe out X4

Stop, look to future we behold

You’ve pulled away from those who feel they control

They want from you what they should not have

You’re bleeding from the wounds, their words they use to stab

They call me the loser but see how they bruise her

They call me the loser but I see how they use

They call me the loser but see how they bruise her

They call me a loser but see how they user her

It all pulls down, deep inside

Those tears come through I try to hide

The pain in her, flows into me

I hit these curves die quietly

One Girl Waves a Flag

Hey there little girl, welcome to my world

When you learn to see the truth, they’ll all forget about you

How can they all be happy with what they see,

So content with this life when there’s so much strife

When your lips speak of love they’ll all hate you, oh yeah

But learn to do what’s right, that’s the best that you can do

And if you fight you’ll see how much better it can be

For even though you pass us by you will never die

So wave your banner high and let those colors fly

No matter what they say, you’ve shown them the way

Oh yes the tears will fall and yes you will call

For help from someone near and they will not hear

Cause when your lips of love they’ll all hate you, yeah yeah

Learn to do what’s right, that’s the best that you can do

And if you fight you’ll see how much better it can be

For even though you pass us by you will never die

I won’t forget you

(I won’t forget you) The lives we’ve led

(I won’t forget you) The tears we’ve shed

(I won’t forget you) The love we’ve known even when you’re gone

(I won’t forget you) You’re never gone from me

(I won’t forget you) No you’re never gone from me

Johnny's Sorrow or This is Why I Cry

Johnny Sorrow opened up the door
And walked across the floor where so many people had been hurt
Then he looked down at his gloved hand
“What kind of man would leave his love lying in the dirt?”
A tear would have fallen if it could
But he just stood
In a dark, quiet, cold house
So he turned to leave that place
Where he’d lost his face
As the tortured souls began to shout
“Oh you can’t leave yet,
You’ve only begun to fret
For the crimes you did commit when you left me here alone
For you the sun won’t shine
And you will always cry
For your crimes you’re gonna die just like me alone.”

So he slowly walked down the street
And every face he’d meet
Looked like the one in the room
Covered up in her blood
“Oh my lost love
Why must I always be doomed?
To always run away
And no one sees my face
Always a mask I will wear”
There was no reply
Only the faintest cry
From out of no where
“Oh you can’t leave yet,
You’ve only begun to fret
For the crimes you did commit when you left me here alone
For you the sun won’t shine
And you will always cry
For your crimes you’re gonna die just like me alone.”

Billy Talent - Billy Talent I

When someone popped in the album Billy Talent I, the first thing I did was think "bleh". The music sounded pretty cliche and the main vocals were too much of a throw-back for me. But, then the song "Lies" came on and that first guitar riff grabbed me by the short-hairs and would not let go until the album was over. I was hooked. I began to love that high, almost pre-pubescent scream from the lead vocalist Ben Kowalewicz. The whole package began to grow on me, and as a musician, when you hear a song and say, "I want my band to play that song!" you know you've got a great album there. Songs like "Standing in the Rain" and "Nothing to Lose" are able to translate one of those face-flushing emotions of despair that few current artists can. This is one you will not be disappointed to have in your collection.

Nofx - Coaster

Ah NOFX, one of my favorite bands still carrying the flag for West Coast Punk Rock. Coaster, their eleventh studio album, has quickly risen up my charts, placing itself firmly in the ten albums that line my CD visor. After the disappointment from Wolves in Wolves Clothing having so many songs that just did not live up to the Fat Wreck Chords standard of excellence, I was ready for another mediocre-fest; but instead, was pleasantly surprised. From the opener "We Called it America" I was hooked. Great riffs, superb solos, catchy hooks, and the good ole down and dirty politics we've all come to expect from a Fat Mike production were present as well as some new angles. Now, I'll admit when you see new angles in a description of a well established bands newest release, I too cringe. But, songs like"My Orphan Year" where Mike opens up an emotional side for the audience, are not only well done but actually quite moving. Being from a single parent household, I found this song really pulled on my heartstrings heavily and even brought me to tears; not a normal reaction to the Sultans of Slander, but a nice change. As I mentioned the heavy social issues are still present with songs like "Blasphemy (The Victimless Crime)" and "Suits and Ladders" the guys successfully tackle delicate issues such as religion and capitalism with their ever blunt and poignant lyrics. Lines such as "I understand that faith in a deity/Helps the masses who are having hard times/But blasphemy like prostitution/Are clearly victimless crimes" will have you re-listening as though you were trying to grasp the latest Noam Chomsky read. In short, I was stoked to have a new NOFX that I felt I could slip right in the visor and reach for, knowing there would be some good quality tunes awaiting me. Oh boys, its nice to have you back!
